Wash. DNR Exempts DOC Lodge Fires from State Burn Bans

On September 9, 2014, DNR Commissioner Peter Goldmark formally exempted DOC sweatlodge fires from state burn bans. Here's his proclamation. Due to the state's burn ban and related confusion about its applicability to such ceremonial (and contained) fires, some DOC Circles' sweatlodge ceremonies were cancelled this summer. Now, it won't happen again. We thank Commissioner Goldmark.
